 A Night Out in Mallorca

Mallorca Night Places

Palma is the place to party when you go to Mallorca. In the best bars and nightclubs you shouldn’t be surprised to find yourself dancing beside celebrities from Hollywood. To the west of Palma one can find the tourist laden resorts of Magaluf, Palma, and El Arenal. Not surprisingly these resorts are where you’ll find not only very beautiful beaches but the best night spots in all of Mallorca. You can find everything there from simple bars, music bars, karaoke bars, cabaret shows, foam parties, and plenty of other nightly entertainment.

The most popular clubs in the area include BCM Planet Dance, Tito’s, Dorado Night City, Pacha’s, Banana Joe’s, Car Wash, School Disco, Poco Loco, Venue and Boomerang’s. BCM Planet Dance can accommodate up to 5000 people at a time and are known for its spectacular light shows and its foam parties at its basement level called the Millenium Club. Tito’s, on the other hand can accommodate only up to 2000 people at a time, but is reputed to be the most exclusive nightclub in the entire island where the rich and the famous go to party. For those not staying in Palma you can be sure to find bars and restuarants near or within you resort hotel. Comparative to Palma though the nightlife in other areas are definitely more sedate. Those in rural towns staying in rural hotels and fincas need to travel a little distance to find a place for some serious partying.

Party goers aren’t the only ones who can find some good nightly entertainment in Mallorca. Music lovers will find planty of quieter bars and pubs where music is the main dish although you of course need to choose a bar that plays music of the genre you prefer. For soul fans a must visit bar would be The Rising Sun at C’an Pastilla. Gamblers also have a place of their own of course at at the Casino de Mallorca in Urbanizacion Sol de Mallorca. Minors aren’t allowed and Ids and passports are required at the entrance. Casino games available include craps, stud poker, American roulette, blackjack and lots and lots of slots.

Get a Glimpse of Some Culture and History

If it’s culture and history you want a visit to Mallorca will definitely not disappoint. With Mallorca’s long history you can will have plenty of historical places and monuments to visit. Starting from the very old Talaiots, which are huge and numerous dwelling places built by the early dwellers of this island, you will surely be transported back in time as you ponder upon the enigma left by the prehistoric Talayotic culture.

A visit to the olive groves of Mallorca will then remind you of the legacy left by the Romans while a visit to the courtyards at Palma will give you a glimpse of the changes in architectural styles from the 15th century to the 20th century itself. The courtyard transitions form the early Catalan Gothic style, to Rennaissance, to Baroque, to neo-Gothic, and finally to the modern style where courtyards disappeared in favour of a roofed area with skylights.

A visit to several or even just one sanctuary, hermitage, oratory, or castle will of course give you a taste of both culture and history. You can find several of these including the El Castell del Rei at Alducia. Other sanctuaries and hermitages can also be found at Valldemossa, Escora, and Esporles.

A favorite tour among tourists is a trip to the first railway line in Mallorca, which was first officially opened in 1875. From the original line from Palma to Inca other routes were eventually opened and closed due to financial setbacks. Now the railway is under operation again and even the abandoned lines are in use due to the increased demand for public transportation. Art lovers need only visit the numerous museums, old buildings, churches, cathedrals and the famous Arab Baths to have their fill of art and beauty.

There is no better way than to immerse one’s self in Mallorca’s culture than by visiting the island during a festivals or fiestas. One doesn’t really have to wait for the big festivals since there’s a fiesta in some part of Mallorca almost every month. Some celebrations are of course more interesting and colorful than some although most of them are religious in nature.
